Announcements Research Publications, Inc. announces preparation of a major microfilm publication program: Learned Periodicals of the 17th and 18th Centuries. This project is based on the best and most recent bibliographies, including Fielding H. Garrison's exhaustive list, "Scientific and Medical Periodicals of the 17th and 18th Centuries." The entire program will be produced in segments, each of which comprises a logical portion of the material. Scientific, Medical, and Related Periodicals of the 17th Century is the first installment to be offered, and it will be of particular interest to historians of science, medicine, technology, and philosophy. It will bring together in a single comprehensive package material that is quite scarce and otherwise difficult of access. Included are complete runs of the independent, scientific-related journals "born" in the 17th century, the most important of these being Acta Eruditorum (complete with all supplements and indexes) and the Journal des Scavans (to be distinguished from its later continuation, Journal des Savants). In addition, this first part will include the 17th and 18th century serial publications of scientific academies and medical societies founded prior to 1700. Subsequent installments of Learned Periodicals of the 17th and 18th Centuries will be announced in the near future. The entire project, when completed, will offer an unparalleled resource for scholars in all phases of the modern history of ideas. Scholars and librarians interested in further bibliographic and acquisition details should write Research Publications, Inc., P. O. Box 3903, Amity Station, New Haven, Connecticut 06525.
