Pearl T. Ponce is assistant professor of history at Ithaca College. She is currently editing a documentary history for Ohio University Press titled Kansas’s War: The Civil War in Documents. She is also revising her manuscript, “To Tame the Devil in Hell”: Kansas in National Politics, 1854–1858).
Christopher A. Luse is a doctoral candidate in the Department of History at Emory University. He is currently completing a dissertation on polygenesis and the defense of slavery and teaches part-time at the University of Georgia.
