Out Front with Stephen Abram: A Guide for Information Leaders, Stephen Abram. Chicago: American Library Association, 2007. 192p. $40 (ISBN 978-0-8389-0932-4)

Anyone with a passing interest in library leadership, technology, or change has undoubtedly come across Stephen Abram, vice-president for innovation at SirsiDynix. This work collects his writings, mostly informal pieces from newsletters, blogs, and magazines, and organizes them into the broad categories of advocacy, technology, community and generations, and the future. The common thread moving through all of them is the need for librarians and library services to change with the times and with our users. (T.J.)

The New Inquisition: Understanding and Managing Intellectual Freedom Challenges, James LaRue. Westport, CT: Libraries Unlimited, 2007. 172p. $40 (ISBN 978-1-59158-285-4)

This work certainly stands out among the many tomes on libraries and the fight over censorship, not the least due to the zeal of the author. Primarily written for public library administrators who want to fight or at least understand the good fight, the history of censorship challenges and passionate writing of the author might be interesting to any librarian.
