Cuando hable con el silencio
cuando sólo tenga una cadenade domingos grises para darte
cuando sólo tenga un lecho vacíopara compartir contigo un deseoque no se satisface ya con los cuerpos de este mundo
cuando ya no me basten las palabras del castellanopara decirte lo que estoy mirando
cuando esté el mudo de voz de ojos y de movimiento
cuando haya arrojado lejos de míel miedo a morir cualquier muerte
cuando ya no tenga tiempo para ser yoni ganas de ser aquel que nunca he sido

when my eyes and motion and my voice are struck dumb
when I have cast out the dreadof dying every death
when I have no more time to be me,or yearn to be what I've never been
when an eternity of nothings and unrememberingis all I have to offer
eternities in which I cannot see or touch youstir you to jealousy or murder you

Homero Aridjis (Contepec/Michoacán, 1940) es considerado uno de los más destacados autores y poetas de la lengua castellana. Octavio Paz reconoció sus talentos muy pronto, y esto le ayudó en la publicación de su obra cuando aun era un jovencito. En 1969 comenzó a dar conferencias sobre literatura mexicana en universidades de EEUU y en 1972 fue nombrado agregado cultural de la embajada mexicana en Holanda. Años más tarde se convertiría en embajador de México en el mismo país. En 1985 Homero Aridjis fundó el Grupo de los cien, un cuerpo de cien artistas e intelectuales destacados internacionalmente que se ven involucrados activamente en asuntos del medio ambiente. Aridjis es la dínamo del movimiento y, por lo tanto, es despreciado por las autoridades mexicanas. Es autor de numerosos volúmenes de poesía y prosa.
Homero Aridjis (Contepec/Michoacán, 1940) is considered one of Latin America's outstanding authors and poets in the Spanish language. Octavio Paz recognized his early talents, which served him in getting his poetry and prose published when he was still in his youth In 1969 he commenced giving lectures in Mexican literature at universities in the USA and in 1972 he became cultural attaché at the Mexican embassy in the Netherlands. A few years later he was appointed ambassador. In 1985 Homero Aridjis co-founded the Grupo de los cien, a group of one hundred internationally renowned artists and intellectuals that became actively engaged with environmental problems. He is its driving force - and as such is held in low esteem by the Mexican authorities. He is the author of numerous volumes of poetry and prose.
George McWhirter dejó su país natal, Irlanda, en 1965 para emigrar a España, y al año siguiente a Canadá. Su primer libro, Catalan Poems, compartió el premio Commonwealth Potry Prize con Soul Brother, de Chinua Achebe, en 1972. Ha editado cinco libros de poesía, tres de cuentos, dos novelas, y un libro en traducción.
