and every three or four minutes, the day's eclipsed—that necessary pause between tunes—before the arrival of the sun, warming the earth with its time-delayed light.

He codirects the creative writing program at Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and edits Brilliant Corners: A Journal of Jazz & Literature, which he founded ten years ago.
