Zij maakt zich mooi voor haar dood, mijn lief.Geen hemd, geen rok is haar te duur.Zij koopt zich oorringen en zwoel parfum,maar is nog spaarzaam met water en gas.

Zoveel dat zij nog niet heeft afgeleerd:hoe lekker je moet ruiken als je sterften dat je met een slechte slotindrukje hele leven niet verpesten mag.

Zoveel dat ik nog zeggen wil:dat zij toch goed moet eten voor zij gaat.Geef mij, niet haar, het laatste woord.Ik eis alleen: genees, genees.

Mi amada se emperifolla para su muerte.Ninguna blusa, ninguna falda le es demasiado cara.Se compra aretes y perfumes sensuales,pero aún ahorra para el agua y el gas.

Hay tanto de lo que aún no pierde el hábito:lo bien que debes oler cuando te muerasy que no arruinarás toda tu vidacon una mala impresión final.

She beautifies herself for death, my love.No blouse, no skirt are deemed too dear.She buys fine earrings and a sultry scent,but scrimps on gas and electricity.

So much she still has not unlearned:how nice you have to smell just when you dieand that a final bad impressionmust not contaminate a total life.
