Poucos os que se deleitamfruindo o açúcar e a nevesem dúvidas sobre a dádiva.

Existe quem torça a caraís iguarias servidasimaginando outras raras.

E quem enfeite o bocadode caldas extras, perfumede licores, nozes finas.

Todos um dia qualquerterão suas taças vaziaslábios imóveis, mãos frias.

Pocos son los que se deleitandisfrutando del azúcar y la nievesin dudas sobre la dádiva.

Hay quienes arrugan la frentepor los manjares servidosimaginando otros más raros.

Hay quienes añaden al bocadoalmíbares adicionales, esenciade licores, nueces finas.

Todos un día cualquieratendrán sus copas vacíaslabios inmóviles, manos frías.

On some summer day or otherin a labyrinthine malleveryone's having an ice cream.

Some wolf it downafraid the sultry mugginesswill wash it all away.

Others, lingering, do not adjusttheir fleeting vanilla to the rhythmof hunger. They die at the source.

Only a few take true delightenjoying the sugar and the snowdevoid of doubts about the gift.

There are some who grimaceat the delicacies being servedimagining others rarer still.

And some who decorate it allwith bits of extra topping, scentedsyrups, fine ground nuts.

All of them some day or otherwill find their glasses emptylips immobile, hands of ice.
