Abstract

The authors began to identify and read women physicians' autobiographical writings out of a desire to learn what these women had to say of their own experiences. This article contains annotations of twenty-three autobiographies by women physicians who graduated between 1849 and 1920 and whose careers were as remarkably varied as the women themselves
