The shadows watched from the three windowsThey watchedthe passing wars, the women's hatsthe trudge of the innocent to their homes.In a year when the sun was hot they saw    a strange procession –mirrors, bicycles, all glinting thingswalking slowly towards the lake.Sometime that night the shadows stepped    out of themselvesLeaving the house empty.
