- Nachtspiegeling / Reflejo en la noche / Night reflection
Nachtspiegeling

a mis plegarias.

Night reflection
In this silence without name in which the wordsare soundless, the images without a face,
I stand on the river bank and call your nameat the mask of your last appearance
and when you wake, the birds in the reedscause the current to quiver with the shiver of
moonlight on this dark water then, only thenI give you back to my thoughts and
prayers. I give you the oldest name, the dearest and the loveliest so that something
between us always will live on when evening comes, wordless, nameless and without a single sign.
