Equinox Concert

Light and darkness are in balance
All over the globe tonight, the world
Shrinking into itself like a nut
Hardening into its winter shell.

Years turn, and millennia, and ten
Days after the towers burned,
The spheres are grinding out of tune
And time, and cannot find a measure.

But tonight I heard the world's music
Shake hands with itself, old marches
Jazzed into new rhythms, bodhrán
And bones clatter out their resurrection.

So may the world's axis still hold true,
The pole star be constant, our slow
Turning from west to east lead us
Daily from darkness into light.

Concierto de equinoccio

La luz y la oscuridad se hallan en equilibrio
Esta noche a lo largo de todo el globo, el mundo
Se encoge como lo hace una nuez
Endureciéndose en su cáscara invernal.

Pasan los años y los milenios, y diez
Días después que las torres se incendiaron,
Las esferas continúan moviéndose sin tono
Y a destiempo, sin hallar el metro exacto.

Pero esta noche oí la música de las esferas
Estrechando manos consigo misma, viejas
Marchas arregladas en nuevos ritmos, el bodhrán
Y los huesos hacen resonar ruidosamente su resurrección.

Que el eje del mundo continúe existiendo,
Que la estrella polar sea constante, nuestro lento
Paso del oeste al este nos lleva,
A diario, de la oscuridad a la luz.
