CONFERENCE ON BLACK WOMEN IN AFRICA AND THE AFRICAN DIASPORA: The Afro-American Studies and Research Program at the University of Illinois/Champaign (UIUC) will host an international and interdisciplinary conference on black women in Africa and the African Diaspora, 1-4 June 2000, and is seeking panel and paper proposals that address the broad topics of identity, culture, and politics, in both the historical and contemporary lives of black women in Africa and the African Diaspora.
