Guidelines for Contributors

Manuscript submissions and correspondence concerning editorial matters should be addressed to the Editorial Office, Israel Studies, Ben-Gurion Research Center, Sede-Boker Campus, Israel 84990 (tel.: +972-7-655-5050; fax: +972-7-655-5728; +972-7-646-7516; e-mail: istudies@bgumail.bgu.ac.il).

Manuscripts that have been published or that are currently under consideration for publication elsewhere in either article or book form will not be accepted. Should the manuscript be a translation of work that has appeared in Hebrew or another language, that fact should be clearly noted in an accompanying letter. In exceptional cases, Israel Studies will consider translating work submitted in Hebrew. Manuscripts are reviewed anonymously and may be edited for style.

Information on Style:

1. Contributions to Israel Studies may be up to 25 pages in length in a standard 12-point font. Illustrations are encouraged.

2. Manuscripts must be typed double-spaced (including notes, indented material, and tables) with adequate margins. Israel Studies uses a Note style that is a varient of the University of Chicago Manual of Style (1982 or 1993 edition). See Notes examples below.

3. Authors are asked to avoid academic or technical jargon, since the readership of Israel Studies is multidisciplinary and multilingual. Acronyms and abbreviations should be spelled out in full when used for the first time.

4. Authors should submit a hard copy together with a 3.5´´ disk formatted either for IBM or Macintosh. Macintosh MSWord and IBM Word Perfect (at least 5.1) or Word for Windows (2.0 or above) are preferred. Indicate the format and language used.

5. Do not submit original artwork (figures, graphs, photographs) for review. Camera-ready original artwork will be required upon acceptance of the article for publication.

6. It is the responsibility of the author(s) to ensure that names, affiliations, and other identifying material such as acknowledgments or personal references are placed on the title page only, or on a separate page preceding the text. Title page should include author's name(s), affiliations, mailing and e-mail addresses, and fax and both home and work telephone numbers.

7. Disks should have 3Wles: 1) Text in a separate file. 2) Notes in a separate file. 3) Abstract and brief professional biography containing present affiliation and recent or major publications. The author's name should be on the disk label and the files should be designated as "Lastname".T, "Lastname".N, and "Lastname".A. There is no bibliography.

If you are citing an M.D. or Ph.D. {D.Phil.} thesis, include the department and university from which it was received.)
