Ran Aaronsohn is a Senior lecturer at the Department of Geography, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He has published widely on the field of historical geography, specializing on early Jewish colonies in the nineteenth century in Palestine and communes in North America. His recent publications include, The Baron and the Moshavot: The Beginnings of Jewish Settlement in Eretz Israel, 1882-1890 (Jerusalem, 1990) [Hebrew; an English version is forthcoming]; and “Baron Rothschild and the Initial Stage of Jewish Settlement in Palestine (1882-1890): A Different Type of Colonization?” Journal of Historical Geography, 19(2) (1993) 142-156.

Maoz Azaryahu is a Lecturer at the Department of Geography, University of Haifa. Yinon Cohen is a Senior Lecturer with a joint appointment in the Departments of Sociology and Labor Studies, Tel-Aviv University. Yoram Peri is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Communications and Journalism, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is former Chief-Editor of the daily, Davar, and is Vice-President of the New Israel Fund. He is best known for his book, Between Battles and Ballots: Israeli Military Politics (Cambridge, 1983). He is presently editing a book on Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin’s assassination and Israeli society. Recent publications focus on political communication in Israel.

Gershon Shafir is a Lecturer at the Department of Sociology at the University of California, San Diego.
