Personal

A new Who's Who in Health Policy Web site was launched on 1 January 2000; this initiative is being jointly sponsored by the Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Lawand the Duke Center for Health Policy Law and Management (www.hpolicy.duke.edu/cyberexchange/whowho.html). This database will serve as an electronic Rolodex for the health policy community. Significant changes to the Who's Who database that are thought to be of particular interest to the journal's readers will be highlighted on the News and Notes Web page.

Grants Available

An excellent ongoing resource is the Funding Alert Newsletter from the Duke University Office of Research Support. It lists current grant opportunities for faculty in the humanities and social sciences, based on news from Commerce Business Daily, the Federal Register, the NIH Guide, the Blue Sheet, the National Science Foundation's Document Online, the Chronicle of Higher Education, the Chronicle of Philanthropy, Science, Washington Fax, various funding opportunity newsletters, and program announcements (www.ors.duke.edu/find/announce/alert/index.html).

AcademyHealth also maintains an extensive listing of links to health policy-related funding opportunities (www.academyhealth.org). [End Page 1025]

Grants Awarded

The National Library of Medicine contains a database of over five thousand health services research projects. This database, called HSRProj (available at gateway.nlm.nih.gov), allows searches by subject, funding agency, performing organization, or principal investigator. The Academy provides a pocket directory with simple directions for searching the database (www.academyhealth.org/hsrproj).

Organizations

The Duke Health Policy CyberExchange has links to international, federal, state, and local organizations; health industry; policy research organizations; universities; foundations; and the media (www.hpolicy.duke.edu/cyberexchange).

Conferences and Meetings

The Meetings and Conferences portion of the Duke Health Policy CyberExchange provides links to many health policy-related meetings and conferences lists (www.hpolicy.duke.edu/cyberexchange/Whatmeet.htm). One of the largest lists is the Academy's Conferences Web page (www.academyhealth.org/conferences).

Publications

The Key Health Policy Issues Area portion of the Duke Health Policy CyberEx-change lists new health policy-related reports, organized by issue area. Material is added daily, so check often (www.hpolicy.duke.edu/cyberexchange/Whatpa.htm). Additions to the CyberExchange will be highlighted on the News and Notes Web page.

Fellowships and Other Opportunities

An excellent ongoing resource is the Funding Alert Newsletter from the Duke University Office of Research Support. It lists postdoctoral fellowships (www.ors.duke.edu/find/announce/alert/current/pdoc.html), graduate fellowships (www.ors.duke.edu/fundopps/find/announce/alert/current/grad.html), and Federal internships (www.house.gov/watt/emplopps.htm).

Another source of health policy-related jobs and internships in the public and private sectors can be found at the Duke Health Policy Cyberexchange Jobs and Internships Web page (www.hpolicy.duke.edu/cyberexchange/Jobs.htm).

AcademyHealth also maintains an extensive set of specific job listings for faculty and university positions (www.academyhealth.org/career).
