Paula Amad is assistant professor in the Department of Cinema and Comparative Literature at the University of Iowa. She has published work on pre-Griersonian nonfiction French cinema in Film History and is currently working on a book about early cinema titled Archiving the Everyday.

Stephen Bottomore is a television producer who has made documentaries all over the world. He pursues a parallel career as a historian of early cinema, and is especially interested in the cultural context of the first movies and in early nonfiction. An associate editor of Film History, he has published many articles on silent film history, as well as writing two books on the subject, including I Want to See This Annie Mattygraph: A Cartoon History of the Coming of the Movies.

Jeannette Delamoir completed her PhD, “Louise Lovely: The Construction of a Star,” in 2002. Although the degree was awarded through La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia, she began the research years earlier, while living in Rochester, New York. She currently teaches in the School of Contemporary Communication at Central Queensland University in Rockhampton, Australia.

Beatriz Flores Gutiérrez is assistant professor at the University of North Texas where she teaches film and multimedia. Her most recent work, MediaTo[u]r, is an effort to democratize the mediation of ideas in the public sphere through media tours on foot, installations/projections, and the Internet. Some of her works include OLiff, Godot Is Downtown, Mexico–USA Immigration Stories, On Women’s Recipes, and Serious Humor.

Frank Gray is the director of the South East Film and Video Archive at the University of Brighton, UK. He is a specialist in Victorian cinema.

Jan-Christopher Horak is curator of the Hollywood Entertainment Museum, adjunct professor in critical studies at UCLA, and founding vice president of AMIA. He received his PhD from the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität, Münster, Germany, and a master’s in film from Boston University. Horak is author of numerous books and articles, including Making Images Move: Photographers and Avant-Garde Cinema; Lovers of Cinema: The First American Film Avant-Garde, 1919–1945; and The Dream Merchants: Making and Selling Films in Hollywood’s Golden Age.

Janna Jones is assistant professor of communication at the University of South Florida in Tampa. Her areas of research are cinematic culture and cultural heritage. Her book The Southern Movie Palace: Rise, Fall, and Resurrection is an analysis of movie palace preservation. She is currently writing a book about the cultural implications of film preservation.

Christina Lane is assistant professor in film studies at the University of Miami where she teaches film history, cultural studies, and feminist theory. She is the author of Feminist Hollywood: From Born in Flames to Point Break and has published articles in Authorship and Film (ed. David A. Gerstner and Janet Staiger) and The West Wing: The American Presidency as Television Drama (ed. Peter C. Rollins and John E. O’Connor).

Victoria McCargar is senior editor for library project development at the Los Angeles Times and is a researcher in digital preservation as it applies to news archives. She holds master’s degrees in library and information science from UCLA and science journalism from the University of Missouri. She teaches preservation of cultural heritage materials in the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies.

Anke Mebold is a 2001 graduate of the L. Jeffrey Selznick School of Film Preservation. She is currently working for the Kinemathek of the Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin.

Elaine Sheppard is research fellow at the South East Film and Video Archive at the University of Brighton and is managing the archive’s on-line resource project.

Anna Siomopoulos teaches in the Department of Cinema and Photography at Ithaca College. She has published articles on American film and culture in Cinema Journal, Film History, and Arizona Quarterly.

Stephen Slappe is an artist and educator living in Portland, Oregon. He makes video-and film-based installations addressing the effect of mass media on interpersonal relationships.
