Jonas Jølle wrote his DPhil thesis in 1999 on “The uses and function of mythology in Goethe’s Early Hymns” at Oxford University. He has published several articles on Goethe, the most recent of which will be forthcoming in Oxford Germanic Studies, 2004. He is currently working for the Norwegian Foreign Service.

David L. Pike is Assistant Professor of German at the American University in Washington, D.C. He is the author of Passage through Hell. Subways, Cemeteries, Sewers and the Culture of Paris and London (2004), and co-editor of the Longman Anthology of World Literature (2004).

Thomas Schestag is Wissenschaftlicher Assistent in the Comparative Literature Department at the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe Universität Frankfurt. He is the author of para (1991), Parerga (1991), buk (1994), Mantisrelikete (1998) as well as the editor of Fila sonantia (1996). He has written numerous articles on Benjamin, Kafka, Celan, Derrida, Ponge, and Schmitt.
