Douglas Anderson teaches in the Philosophy Department at the Pennsylvania State University and is past recipient of the University's Eisenhower Teaching Award. He focuses on American philosophy and the history of philosophy, and is author of two books and numerous essays dealing with issues in American philosophy and culture.

Mary Anne Fitzpatrick is the Deputy Dean of the College of Letters and Science at the University of Wisconsin with responsibility for research and outreach. She currently holds the WARF Mid-Career Professorship in Communication and she is a Fellow and Past-President of the International Communication Association.

Jeff Jeske is professor of English and the director of writing at Guilford College. As chair of the Curriculum Committee, he directed Guilford's recent revision of its general education program.

Mary Sellen is Assistant Director for User Services at the University at Albany, State University of New York. She is part of the Information Literacy Program in the University Libraries and has developed bibliographic instruction programs both at the University and in a previous position at Chapman University, California.

Melora Sundt oversees the Division of Student Affairs in the Rossier School and teaches in the Higher Education graduate program at the University of Southern California. Dr. Sundt has also conducted numerous evaluations of nationally- and internationally based educational partnerships and programs for federal agencies and foundations such as USAID, FIPSE, the Kauffman Foundation, and NEH.

Nancy Westphal-Johnson is Associate Dean and Director of Undergraduate Education in the College of Letters and Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Most recently, she has been an invited participant in the Penn State Symposium on General Education funded by the Hewlett Foundation. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Wisconsin Madison.

Partick Dilley is Assistant Professor of Higher Education and Qualitative Research at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where he also directs the college student personnel program. [End Page iv]
