Introduction

This is the final number of JAAS's millennial trilogy. The first, published in February 2000 featured pedagogy and community. The second, issued in June 2000 explored the articulations of race. In this final number, guest editors Soo-Young Chin, Peter X Feng, and Josephine Lee offer essays that convey "the excitement and immediacy of the experience of culture as performance" and that reveal "the many passionate investments in Asian American culture and its revelation of politics, history, and subjectivity." We welcome the authors for their contributions, thank the guest editors for their kind labors, and urge our readers to engage the stimulating essays of this number.
