Flow between Mind and Earth

Lillian Pitt

The piece Flow between Mind and Earthwas named after it was complete. The seam goes between the aluminum torso/hips and legs, and this suggested the title to me. The mask was made in clay and then cast in bronze. I found all four aluminum pieces (two flow and two gathering) at Boeing Surplus in Seattle, Washington, in 1999. It took three months for me to figure out how to use them in a major piece. Gathering Energy from the Milky Way, also published in this issue, was named before the piece was made. I took a chigong class in 1998, and the pose in this piece was one of the major chi poses (a moving of energy). [End Page 31]
