This excellent web site, created by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and funded by Robert
and Harriet Heilbrunn, is an encyclopedia of art information that serves students and
scholars as well as the interested layman. The website was created in 2000 and covers the
history of art (and politics) from 20000 bce to 2000 ce. Timeline of Art History is a work in
progress and will continue to add content. The site was previously reviewed in these
