from Over the City
In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

A child witnesses a secret
like waves. Patience &
diligence dare her.
Silver shoes in hands.
The dense city for men
to see & speak of her.

She floats in the diagonal
a tilt in the fold-up pattern
her feet read. She calls this
the constant motion of being.
It is beyond the border
of red lines and blue lines.

Flutter of something fractured
glass in the street. Silver light.
Without wading, she
spreads her hard resolve
around the dark.

If (Then) a child understands
the loneliness of her mother

a river from which she runs
pooling new terrain.

If (Then) she severs or morphs
oblong, landlocked.

If an oxbow, which portion erodes
(& Then what)—remains?

to face the ocean's static
