• Hoosen Coovadia is a Director at MatCH Health Systems (Maternal, Adolescent and Child Health) a division of the Wits Health Consortium, in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, at the University of the Witwatersrand (from 2008). He is also an Emeritus Professor of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (from 2003). He is a Commissioner on the National Planning Commission for South Africa (from 2010).
• Benedict Xolani Dube is a Senior Researcher at the Xubera Institute for Research and Development, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
• Bill Freund is Emeritus Professor of Economic History at the University of KwaZulu-Natal where he was Head of the Department of Economic History and Development Studies at the University of Natal until 2004.
