We are welcoming Charles Armstrong (Columbia University) as guest editor for this volume, “The End of War? The Korean Armistice after Sixty Years” that commemorates the sixtieth anniversary of the Korean War armistice of 1953. We did not exactly plan for tension this spring between North Korea and the United States to promote this issue, but the fact that serious tensions developed once again points to the aftermath of the Korean War as an issue that will not go away and that needs to be rethought again and again.

We also want to welcome Aaron Han Joon Magnan-Park as our new film review editor. We are planning to include academic reviews of films that engage with what Korean movies can tell us about Korean culture, and how Koreans have and are engaging with the issues of the day.

The Journal of Korean Studies has two thematic issues planned for the future: Jennifer Chun and Judy Han are guest editing an issue on “Gender and Politics in Contemporary Korea” for the fall of 2014, and Ted Hughes and Jina Kim are guest editing an issue on “Korea Culture, New Media, and Digital Humanities” for the fall of 2015. Enjoy. [End Page 175]
