Beltane Lyric

From: Colorado Review
Volume 40, Number 1, Spring 2013
p. 144 | 10.1353/col.2013.0039

In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

The past cries itself out my eyes
despite sun prodding pansies into lion face

Loneliness finds me in evening
herds me window to window to wine

which pours me, guzzles my organs

Yesterday thinks me, tomorrow makes wishes
unto itself then has me, stills my ribs

Thoughts hand me tied along them until
one I make tears me out of holding

lifts me newborn in the air
& newness moistens my nose

above where a loving vacuum
abhors me breathless & so breathes me—
