Picturing Arthur in English History: Text and Image in the Middle English Prose Brut

From: Arthuriana
Volume 23, Number 4, Winter 2013
pp. 38-71 | 10.1353/art.2013.0050

These visual representations of Arthur work with and against their narrative texts in the service of at least four different historiographical schemes, but British Arthur remains a linchpin of English history in all seven Brut chronicles.
