Famous in Song and Story: Arthurian Legends in Heather Dale’s Music

From: Arthuriana
Volume 22, Number 2, Summer 2012
pp. 3-20 | 10.1353/art.2012.0022

Abstract

Abstract:

Although popular music is often assumed to be lyrical or dramatic rather than narrative, analysis of the structure, lyrics, and audio components (vocal and instrumental) of Heather Dale’s Arthurian songs reveals the way that the lyrical and dramatic aspects of popular music can create narrative, a fact demonstrated both in Dale’s individual songs and in her work as a whole.
