The work of Bronson Alcott is examined both for its relationship to other work of the Transcendentalists, and for its evocation of the theme of personal growth. The essays on education are cited, and specific comparisons made with both Thoreau and Fuller. In addition, comparison with Deweyan pragmatist thought is made. The commentary of Robinson, Stern and Pinsky is alluded to.
