This is the final issue of Theatre Journal that I will see through production. I would like to take a moment to thank the many individuals who helped me during my four-year term as editor. I am grateful to the administration at USC's College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences for their consistent support and for their recognition of the scholarly contributions of journal editing. Joseph Aoun, Dean of the College, Beth Meyerowitz, Dean of the Faculty, and Donal Manahan, Dean of Research have offered Theatre Journal a welcome home at USC these past years, and to them we are all indebted. The Department of English has been especially hospitable to TJ over the years. My thanks to Nellie Ayales Reyes for her help and support and to my colleagues for their encouragement. Thanks also to the wonderful assistant editors at USC. Sun Hee Teresa Lee, Carol Bunch, Samuel Park, and Pamela Greiman have all helped me in putting together the issues, in maintaining the office, and in keeping track of the many matters that involve the journal.

I am also pleased to acknowledge the generous support of ATHE's Governing Council. It has been a pleasure to work with Kurt Daw, Jon Fraser, and others involved in the work of ATHE. I was lucky to have my editorial term coincide with their leadership. Thanks also to Nancy Erickson for her wonderful stewardship at ATHE's main offices.

I was also fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with TJ's tireless review editors whose dedication to TJ deserves special mention: Dorothy Chansky, Charlotte Canning, Denise Walen, Bob Vorlicky, and Edward Ziter and the entire editorial team at NYU's Department of Drama. I am grateful as well to Theatre Journal's Associate Editors whose commitment to the journal has kept the journal at the forefront of our field. Thanks also to Susan Bennett and Harry Elam whose editorial terms overlapped with mine and whose friendship I value. Editing TJ these past years has put me in contact and communication with hundreds of scholars throughout the world who have submitted their scholarship, their performance and book reviews, and who have served as outside readers for our anonymous peer-review process. Thanks to everyone who participated in the journal's scholarly community these past years during my editorship.

My personal thanks to Jill Dolan, Janelle Reinelt, and Bob Vorlicky, who advised me on TJ matters throughout my editorial term. Thanks also to my partner, Richard Meyer, for his encouragement, support, and patience.

I must acknowledge everyone at the Journals Division of Johns Hopkins University Press, especially Mary Muhler, who sees every issue of Theatre Journal through production and whose professionalism insures the journal's future. It has been a pleasure working with Mary and her colleagues these past five years.

Editing Theatre Journal has confirmed my commitment to our field and to its necessity in the larger culture. This has been an extraordinary opportunity for me. I have no doubt that theatre studies will continue to thrive in the years to come, and I look forward to the exciting work a new generation of scholars will produce.
