Submission Guidlines

Manuscript Submission Requirements.

Only original papers are considered for publication. By submitting a manuscript, the author(s) stipulate compliance with the ethical codes of either the American Counseling Association or the American Psychological Association relevant to their research and manuscript, including not submitting to more than one publisher simultaneously. Generally, article manuscripts are 18 to 22 pages in length; submissions for columns or the Reports and New Developments section should be 8 to 14 pages in length. If a manuscript is more than 30 pages, please contact the editors’ office before submitting it. All manuscripts should be double spaced. Manuscripts must include an abstract of no more than 120 words. Text and references of all manuscripts should be formatted according to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th ed., 2009). Authors bear responsibility for the accuracy of all references and quotations. Manuscripts should be logical, well organized, concise, and related to Individual Psychology. Manuscripts are subject to editorial modification.

Manuscript Submission Instructions.

Manuscript submission requires both hard copy and electronic formats. Send an email to jip@gsu.edu with the manuscript attached in Microsoft Word format, and mail one paper copy of the entire manuscript to the address below. Both the hard copy and email submission should include a mailing address, phone number, email address, and a short biographical statement (i.e., 3 sentences) for each author of the manuscript. The author’s name or authors’ names should appear on the title page only. Any missing information will delay review of the manuscript.

Review Process.

Unsolicited manuscripts submitted to The Journal of Individual Psychology undergo a masked peer review process by contributing editors. Invited, featured, or column manuscripts are peer reviewed by the journal’s editors, special editors (if any), or column editors (if any). Manuscripts resubmitted after being returned to their authors for major revision may be reviewed by one or more additional contributing editors at the discretion of the journal editors.
