This issue’s masthead page registers a number of changes to our editorial board. Some of our longest serving members have become emeritus advisors, and their names have been removed from the masthead but will continue to appear on our website, www.sel.rice.edu. The masthead also includes the names of numerous new appointees to our board. We are acknowledging our emeritus members and welcoming our new advisors over the course of four issues, according to the area of specialty.

With this winter issue we specifically welcome as emeritus advisors to our board some of the most respected early modernist scholars: Stephen Booth, Professor of English, University of California at Berkeley, Ed Doughtie, Professor Emeritus, Rice University and sometime Editor, SEL, Barbara K. Lewalski, Professor Emerita, Harvard University, Arthur F. Marotti, Professor Emeritus, Wayne State University, and Annabel Patterson, Professor Emerita, Yale University. Their sage advice over decades has led to the publication of many of the finest contributions to our English Renaissance winter issues.

Early modern specialists new to the masthead are Patrick Cheney, Professor of English and Comparative Literature at the Pennsylvania State University, Debora K. Shuger, Professor of English at the University of California-Los Angeles, and Gordon Teskey, Professor of English at Harvard University. We know they will be a great help in encouraging and developing submissions from a wide variety of sources for both our winter and spring issues. [End Page i]
