The hybrid nature of African dramatic theater has created challenges to African playwrights in the perspective of audience/actor interaction and audience participation. The need to harmonize the European form and the African context has resulted in a new concept of theater audience. The African theater audience is classified into two categories: "the integral" and "the integrated." For an exhaustive discussion on these categories, Femi Osofisan's plays are used.
