The Contributors RAYMOND S. NELSON: Dr. Nelson is Professor of English and Chairman of the Division of Humanities at Morningside College. He wrote his dissertation on Bernard Shaw under Louis Crompton. MANUEL GROSSMAN: A member of the Department of Communication Arts and Sciences, Queens College, CUNY, Professor Grossman has previously published articles on Jarry and the Theater of the Absurd, the language of Dada, and on e. e. cummings' play Him. He is writing a book on the Dada movement in European literature and theater as a part of Pegasus Press's modern literature series. MARY E. CAMPBELL: Professor of English at Indiana University. Her main interests are drama and modern comparative literature. ROBERT A. MARTIN: Associate Professor of English in the Department of Humanities at the University of Michigan, Dr. Martin has published in the Educational Theatre Journal and the Michigan Quarterly Review and is currently writing a book on Arthur Miller's plays and his theory of tragedy. KURT J. FICKERT: Chairman of the Department of Foreign Languages at Wittenberg University, Professor Fickert has published articles on Wolfgang Borchert, Kafka, Hesse, Rilke, and Diirrenmatt. He has also published poems in German and in English. JOHN J. McLAUGHLIN: Associate Professor of English at Clemson University. His publications-mostly on satire and comedy-have appeared in The Nation, Literature and Psychology, and the Journal of Popular Culture among others. He recently finished a book on aggression in comedy and is now working on modern American comedy. ROBERT JORDAN: Dr. Jordan lectures in English at the University of Queensland , Australia. He has published articles on Shaw, Wilde, and Restoration comedy, is co-editing the works of Thomas Southerne for the Clarendon Press, and is writing a book on Restoration drama. BURTON S. KENDLE: Professor Kendle teaches in the Department of English at Roosevelt University. He has published in The Explicator, English Language , Studies in Short Fiction, and Descant. He is currently working on a novel with an urban university setting. M. D. FABER: A member of the Department of English at the University of Victoria, Victoria, B.C., Professor Faber has published widely in the area of psychoanalysis and the drama and is especially interested in the problem of self-destruction. His most recent book, Suicide and Greek Tragedy, and his edited book, The Design Within: Psychoanalytic Approaches to Shakespeare will appear soon. DAVID H. KARRFALT: Associate Professor of English in the English/Speech Department at Edinboro State College, Mr. Karrfalt has published articles and notes on Coleridge, Hawthorne, Conrad, and aspects of modern rhetoric. MOHAN LAL SHARMA: Professor of English at Slippery Rock State College. Dr. Sharma has written numerous articles pertaining to the arts and ideas of India and articles on American, English, and comparative literature. In 1969, he read his paper "Whitman, Tagore, Iqbal: Singers of Self" at the International Modem Languages and Literatures Congress held in Islambad , Pakistan. He is the editor of the Indian section of the Twayne World Authors Series. WALTER J . MESERVE: A member of the Department of Speech and Theatre at Indiana University.
