In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

BOOK REVIEWS DRAMA ON STAGE, by Randolph Goodman, Holt, Rinehar~ and Winston, New York, 1961. xi, 475 pp., $6.50. In Drama on Stage Randolph Goodman has written and edited a volume which can constitute a valuable addition to any theater library, public or private. It contains something for everybody who works in the theater. Only the person for whom the author implies he intended the book may be shortchanged. Goodman's book is concerned with the following plays: Medea, Everyman, Macbeth, The Misanthrope, A Streetcar Named Desire, and The Visit. Texts of the plays cover about half of the total number of pages. Introductions describing conditions under which the works were originally produced and outlining their production records account for almost another quarter of the volume. Most of the remaining space is allotted to -reports of interviews with persons associated with recent productions-
