STRINDBERG 1951-1962: A BffiLIOGRAPHY Tms LISTING is designed to be a supplement to and expansion of Esther H. Rapp's excellent bibliography, "Strindberg's Reception in England and America," Scandinavian Studies, XXIII (February, 1951), 1-22; XXIII (May, 1951), 49-59; XXIII (August, 1951), 109-137. It adds post-1950 material which Miss Rapp does not cover and also appends new sections in an attempt to present a more complete coverage of Strindberg studies during the last decade. There have been a great many Strindberg productions throughout the world since 1950, and it would be impossible to list even a majority of them. The New York revivals have been included as representative presentations. Further, in choosing reviews a considerable degree of selectivity has been exercised: only notices in the two New York daily newspapers with the widest library circulations and in a few of the most readily available weeklies, monthlies, and quarterlies have been selected. In the section devoted to English translations of Strindberg the effort has been to list all English versions published since 1950, including those which originally appeared previous to that date. Pre-1951 articles or reviews which have been reprinted in later books have also been included. In compiling this Bibliography the advice and assistance of Professor Richard B. Vowles has been most valuable and is hereby acknowledged gratefully. I.
