Books for Review [the minnesota review welcomes proposals for reviews of the following books, as well as other more recent titles, particularly that bear on upcoming special issues. I would like to encourage reviews that are short on summary and blurb-like commentary, and long on analysis and taking the texts in questions as symptoms of the present socio-scene of the study of literature and culture. For instance, rather than a review of one book of "autobiographical criticism," one might consider the trend toward personal writing in terms of the fallout from high theory, the return to literature, the construction of academic celebrity, or contemporary job formations ("winner-take-all" jobs) and the ideology of individualism . I would especially like to solicit reviews that consider alternative material—such as special issues of or significant changes in journals , notable conferences, films and video, fashion, as well as commercial publishing trends—that sometimes expose what's going on more directly than notices of specific critical books.
