Fitzpatrick 23 Maryann Blanchard The Silent Screamer A scream, a silent scream. This person knows something about screams, whether they are silent, or as shrill as nothing you have ever heard before. And there are other types of screams: a death scream, a rape scream, a murder scream, a "I see something terrible about to happen" scream, and the Megabucks scream, otherwise known as the elated scream. All the tragedy that has happened so far in this person's life, and if anything exciting happens, she silently screams about it. Screaming, she understands, is supposed to be a form of release, a releasing of some sort of anxiety, to relieve pressure. She could give a shit who hears her, and make enough noise to wake the dead, but scream out loud, oh no, she mustn't do that. It isn't lady-like to scream like a banshee so people can hear her. She's going to stay a reserved person who smokes like a chimney, swears like a trooper and is probably in debt, buying more dishes and more pots and pans and fixing hinges on cupboards and painting over the chipped paint on the doors and taking Valiums like M & M's. But this person is just too reserved to scream out loud so she'll go through life doing her own thing. Please have pity on her. ...
