The Journal of the History of Philosophy is an international journal that publishes articles, notes and discussions, current scholarship reviews, and book reviews concerning the history of Western philosophy, broadly conceived. The Journal publishes material in English, German, and French. It appears quarterly in January, April, July, and October.

Manuscripts should be sent as e-mail attachments in Rich Text Format (RTF) or as MS Word documents to jhp@mailplus.wisc.edu. Please include a short abstract. In addition, in order for the refereeing process to start, a letter of submission and one hard copy of the manuscript must be sent by regular mail to Editor, Journal of the History of Philosophy, Department of Philosophy, University of Wisconsin-Madison, 5185 Helen C. White Hall, 600 North Park St., Madison, WI 53706, USA.

The average length of an article in JHP is between 10,000 and 14,000 words, including references. Notes are usually between 4,000 and 6,000 words. All direct and indirect references to the author in the manuscript should be removed. Submissions not prepared for blind review will be returned for correction. For citation format, please consult the latest issue and the Chicago Manual of Style.

By submitting a manuscript to JHP, the author acknowledges that the work is original, has not appeared in print, and is not under consideration elsewhere.

La revue accueille des textes rédigés en anglais, en allemand, ou en français. Trimestrielle, elle paraît en janvier, avril, juillet, et octobre.

Aucune référence directe ou indirecte permettant d'en identifier l'auteur ne doit apparaître dans le texte. Les manuscrits dérogeant à cette directive seront renvoyés à leur auteur pour rectification. Pour se renseigner sur le mode de présentation des citations et references, on voudra bien consulter le dernier numéro paru et le Chicago Manual of Style.

Par le fait même de soumettre un manuscrit au JHP, l'auteur donne son assurance que le contenu lui en est attribuable, que le texte est inédit, et qu'il n'a pas été proposé simultanément à d'autres revues.
