This review examines Ming Xie’s Conditions of Comparison, a theoretical work dealing with the current state of comparative intercultural inquiry. Referring to notable scholars and theorists, and bringing to bear a range of critical texts, Ming Xie leads us through the epistemological conditions of comparative intercultural inquiry, shedding light on disciplines like comparative literature, cultural studies, translation studies, and philosophical studies. In the process, he attempts to establish a general philosophy of comparative intercultural inquiry.
