The Forum

The Book Review section will henceforth occasionally feature review essays and/or forums which focus on one book to which several interlocutors have been asked to respond. If readers have suggestions for books which merit this more in-depth treatment than the traditional 800-1000 word single review, they are welcome to contact the general book review editor, Antoinette Burton (aburton@uiuc.edu). We launch the first of these new features with a Forum on Philippa Levine's Prostitution, Race and Politics: Policing Venereal Diseases in the British Empire(Routledge, 2003).
