Biographies of Contributors


Dennis Deletant is Professor of Romanian Studies at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, University College, London, and at the University of Amsterdam. His most recent book (with Kieran Williams) is Security Intelligence Services in New Democracies: The Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Romania (2001). He was the 2000ñ2001 Rosenzweig Family Fellow at the Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, and since December 2002, he has been a Senior Research Scholar of the Cold War International History Project, funded by the Woodrow Wilson Center. He is currently studying the regime of Marshal Ion Antonescu.
Daniel Keren is an independent consultant with an interest in inverse engineering and the history of the Second World War.
Michael MacQueen is Chief of Investigative Research for the Office of Special Investigations, United States Department of Justice, where he supervises investigations of war crimes committed in German-occupied Lithuania, Belorussia, and Poland. He served as consultant on the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum exhibitions "Hidden History of the Kovno Ghetto" (1996ñ97) and "Flight and Rescue" (2000).
Harry W. Mazal is a retired businessman and analytical chemist. A founding member of the Holocaust History Project, he is Director of the Mazal Library, a major Holocaust resource in San Antonio.
Jamie McCarthy is a computer programmer specializing in databases and text processing. Afounding member of the Holocaust History Project, he is a graduate of Kalamazoo College.
Wendy Zierler is Assistant Professor of Feminist Studies and Modern Jewish Literature at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. She holds a Ph.D. in comparative literature from Princeton University. She was previously a Research Fellow in the Department of English at the University of Hong Kong. Professor Zierler is author of And Rachel Stole the Idols: The Emergence of Modern Hebrew Women's Writing (2004).
