Abstract

Through an examination of the issues involved in the antitrust case United States v. Twentieth Century-Fox, et al., this essay outlines the complex obstacles the film and television industries had to overcome prior to the appearance of Hollywood feature films on television at the end of 1955. It illuminates this pivotal time period in film and television history and contributes to an understanding of the challenges faced by media industries in all times of major industry convergence and change.
