Submission Guidelines

The Contemporary Pacific provides a publication venue for interdisciplinary work in Pacific studies with the aim of providing informed discussion of contemporary issues in the Pacific Islands region. It features refereed articles that examine social, economic, political, ecological, cultural, and literary topics. It also includes political reviews, book and media reviews, resource reviews, and a dialogue section that allows flexible publication of diverse genres of writing, including interviews and short essays. Each issue highlights the work of a Pacific Islander artist.

Submissions must be original works not previously published and not under consideration or scheduled for publication by another publisher. Manuscripts should be 8,000 to 10,000 words, or no more than 40 double-spaced pages, including references. Manuscripts may be submitted electronically as e-mail attachments. A printed copy is required if there are unusual diacritical marks. Margins should be 1 inch on all sides. Do not justify margins. Everything must be double-spaced, including each line of references and notes (if any). Editorial style follows the sixteenth edition of The Chicago Manual of Style (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 2010), as implemented in current issues of The Contemporary Pacific. Spelling follows Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary (11th ed, 2003). Guidelines for preparing manuscripts and a detailed Style Guide are available from the Editor or the website http://www.hawaii.edu/cpis/publications_5.html
