Aquila Theater

New York's Aquila Theater will perform Homer's Iliad: Book One, a new theatrical production based upon Stanley Lombardo's translation. CAAS Call for Nominations

The Nominating Committee announces the following positions to be elected at the October 2009 business meeting by majority vote of the CAAS members who live and work in the CAAS region. Officers who serve 1-year non-repeatable terms: President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Officer-at-Large (a former President). Traditionally the 2nd Vice President is a new candidate, while the other positions are filled by officers who move up the cursus honorum.

Dickinson Workshop

The Department of Classical Studies at Dickinson College will host a weeklong summer Latin Workshop intended for all teachers of Latin, July 12–17, 2009 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. International Conference on the Book

The Seventh International Conference on the Book will be held at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland from October 16–18, 2009. This conference will address a range of critically important issues, including the past, present, and future of publishing; libraries; literacy; and learning in the information society. Main speakers will include leading thinkers and innovators in the areas of publishing, editing, librarianship, printing, authorship, and information technologies, as well as numerous presentations by researchers and practitioners. Women's Classical Caucus

Every year, the Women's Classical Caucus of the APA celebrates feminist scholarship with awards for excellence: best article / chapter, best oral presentation by a graduate student, and best oral presentation by a post-Ph.D. scholar. Cash prizes are awarded. Nominations must relate to the WCC's mission: the study of gender, sexuality, feminist theory, or women's history.
