CONTRIBUTORS TO THIS ISSUE Bruce Tap is a graduate student in history at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is currently working on his doctoral dissertation , a réévaluation of the Joint Committee on the Conduct of the War. James Marten is an associate professor of history at Marquette University . His first book, Texas Divided: Loyalty and Dissent in the Lone Star State, 1856-1874, was published in 1990. He is currently working on a book about children during the Civil War. Randolph B. Campbell is Regents Professor of History at the University of North Texas in Denton. He is currently working on a study of grass roots Reconstruction in Texas. ...
