CONTRIBUTORS TO THIS ISSUE Joseph George, Jr., professor of history at Villanova University, is the author of a number of articles dealing with the Civil War. Mark J. Stegmaier is currently associate professor of history at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. He is presently working on a book-length study of the Compromise of 1850. Vernon L. Volpe has taught American history at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and at Texas A&M University. He now teaches at Kearney State College in Nebraska. James W. Geary is associate professor of library administration at Kent State University. ...
