The text of a resolution on censorship, passed by ChLA members at the Minneapolis Conference, appeared in the Spring Quarterly. The following is the text of a second statement (revised to correct an error of fact in the original) also approved at the Conference:

The Children's Literature Association at its 1981 Conference in Minneapolis on March 28 voted to support the bill being presented by Senator Daniel Moynihan, Bill S 578. The bill would, in effect, prevent publishers from being heavily taxed on their unsold stock. Enforcement of present legislation, which would result in publisher's reducing print runs and drastically increasing the prices of books, would severely restrict the ability of libraries and schools to purchase those books which form a vital part in the education of the children of this nation.
