  • Naw'lins
  • Patricia Green (bio)

If it's true that Naw'lins was a woman then she won't be back. C'mon after being on life support, and having drowned in the Third Act? And not by the wrath of Katrina or another woman scorned, but from neglect by the very lovers who swear, at her bedside to have worshipped her and loved her to death. Oh, they talk about the Mardi Gras; the French Quarter; the Garden District; and having drinks on Bourbon St. That's all nice and fine... But, what about showing a little Humanity? Or Desire?—For the loss mourned on those particular streets! The soul of the woman where even as she sleeps, the music has quieted to a crawl, without making a sound or a peep. And now amid great uncertainties, fear and chaos, the lovers and kin folks alike bow at her feet; making all types of promises to rebuild sweet Naw'lins, and this despite she's already buried six-feet deep.
