Editor’s Note

I would like to thank the contributors to this number. They represent a broad range of Comedia scholars and approaches, all of which make compelling arguments that we hope will engage readers. Among the essays, we have a small cluster on biblical plays, by a distinguished group of comediantes, and an intriguing approach to Tirso de Molina by a noted professor and one of his students. Cognitive theory and performance studies, to cite but two examples, are included in the mix.

Thanks as well to Vincent Martin, Gwen Stickney, Thomas O’Connor, and the members of the editorial board. As always, we invite submissions. As Bulletin of the Comediantes enters its sixty-fifth year, one cannot help but be grateful for the tireless efforts of its founder Everett W. Hesse and its long-time editor James A. Parr, along with the countless scholars who have ensured continued attention to early modern Iberian and colonial Latin American theater.
