Abstract

Sor Marcela de San Félix, a Trinitarian nun at the Convent of San Ildefonso in Madrid, wrote allegorical dramas on special occasions for the instruction and entertainment of the sisters. She was the illegitimate daughter of Lope de Vega and the actress Micaela de Luján. This essay presents a modernized transcription of the Breve festejo and my arguments for attributing authorship to her. The date, the placement of the folios in the manuscript of vidas, thematic emphases, language, and poetic forms all suggest Marcela de San Félix as the most likely author.
